Ballet Class
With its origins in the 17th century Ballet technique has become the foundation of dance discipline and tuition.
Whilst few students will choose to become professional ballerinas the style and grace of ballet will stay with them forever.
Our students are taught and expected to learn classical and contemporary ballet movements and terminology.
Students may be entered into Local and National competitions and subject to displaying appropriate standards, may be eligible for small bursaries to assist their studies.
Tap Dancing Class
Tap dancing, with its origins set in America, has had an influence on theatre dance for decades. From West End shows like 42nd Street to the latest street 'Stomp' tap dancing has shown great diversity.
Evolving from strict disciplines to the modern relaxed styles recognised by the IDTA who have introduced new grades which are taught in our school.
From Juveniles to adults 'Tap Dancing' provides a great way to have fun, make a noise and stay fit!
Theatre Craft
Theatre Craft is the 'must have' skill for students thinking about a profession in the theatre as it embraces all the dance styles and genres we see in stage performances. From 'Chicago' and 'Hairspray' to 'Billy Elliot' theatre craft has provided the basis of movement and song.
Our tuition involves developing our students artistic abilities whilst giving them the opportunity to interpret and improvise with their chosen music.
Modern Jazz
Modern Jazz, an essential element of musical theatre choreography, is the probably the most favoured class amongst our students and that is shown by the high standards they achieve.
From its origins in tap dancing, Jazz has evolved into a smooth style of dance as exemplified by Bob Fosse's work in 'Chicago' and 'Cabaret'
Our classes follow the IDTA syllabus and are structured develop a students style and presentation.
Street Dance
These dances are popular on all levels, as a form of physical exercise, an art form, and for competition, and are, today, practiced both at dance studios and other outside spaces.
Our students interpret the existing moves freely and are even allowed invent new ones to create a personal style of their own.
Street dancing is very popular with children as it is the dance style show on music videos and programmes.
